Shavlik Protect 9.1 versions will reach end of service on December 31st, 2016. All Protect users should plan to upgrade to Shavlik Protect 9.2 prior to this date to avoid any disruption in service.
Shavlik has released a third patch for Shavlik Protect 9.1. Update 3 is mandatory for all Protect 9.1 customers and supports the new CVE-ID format, resolves an issue where the console certificate would not renew automatically, and resolves a small number of customer reported issues.
Installation Notes: The Shavlik Protect Console must be installed on a 64 bit operating system that is Windows 7\2008 R2 or later. Shavlik Protect requires access to a Microsoft SQL Server database (SQL Server 2005 (Full or Express Edition) or later). If you do not have a SQL Server database, the option to install SQL Server 2012 Express Edition SP1 will be provided during the installation process.
New customers should download and install build 9.1.4511. All of the Update 1, Update 2, and Update 3 changes are contained in this build.
Customers currently running build 9.1.4472 (Protect 9.1 Update 2), 9.1.4446 (Protect 9.1 Update 1), or 9.1.4334 (Protect 9.1 Gold) should download and install Update 3.
Shavlik provides a Migration Tool that is used to migrate your existing Shavlik Protect console to a new machine. If you are currently running Shavlik Protect on a 32-bit OS or on an OS that is older than Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you should migrate to a newer platform.
